Nigerian Examination Body JAMB Announces Release of 2025 UTME Results on Friday
Candidates who participated in this year’s UTME can start checking their results beginning Friday morning.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that the results for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released on Friday, May 9, 2025.
As stated in an official announcement shared with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the results will be unveiled at 8 AM at the JAMB National Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.
More than 1.9 million candidates sat for the 2025 UTME, which is scored out of a total of 400 marks. The examination comprises four core subjects, with the Use of English being compulsory for all candidates, along with three additional subjects relevant to each candidate’s chosen field of study.
Ahead of the results announcement, JAMB provided a performance breakdown, highlighting a concerning trend: over 1.5 million candidates scored below 200, which is the widely recognized average benchmark for university admissions in Nigeria.
In response to these findings, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, attributed the low scores to the effectiveness of recent government policies aimed at combating examination malpractice.
“The high failure rate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination clearly indicates that the government’s anti-malpractice measures are producing results, particularly within the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board system,” Dr. Alausa stated.
The results from the 2025 UTME will be instrumental in determining admissions into various tertiary institutions throughout Nigeria.
